The lovely Trivandrum backwaters offer an excellent scenic view that’s likens to paradise. This area is filled with luscious lagoons, lakes, canals and rivers, which form an intricate maze like nothing else. A lovely, solitary cruise along these networks of waters is an exceptional experience. The distinct quality about Kerala’s backwaters is that they are not just a physically attractive feature here, but also a natural formation that is of high economic value to the State. The largest backwater here is Vembabad Lake, which stretches over 200 sq kilometers of land area and open majestically into the Arabian Sea at Cochin port.

The quiet Trivandrum Backwaters, located on route to Kovalam, is well-known for its canoe rides. The most interesting aspect about these backwaters is that they serve as the meeting point between two hills, which are the Killi and Karamana. Another special feature here is the presence of the famous temple, dedicated to Parashurama, who according to mythology found Kerala.

Chief Attractions Padmanabhaswamy temple The most outstanding landmark in Trivandrum is this temple, with its presiding deity Vishnu in a reclining position on Aaadhiseshan. The unique aspect of this temple is its enormous seven-story tower, vast array of pillars, excellent carvings and beautiful mural paintings. Right in the heart of the city, you can find complex art and natural history museums, art gallery and zoological and botanical gardens. The museum showcases beautiful paintings and art collections of the royal family.

Kanakakkunnu Palace This royal palace now serves as the location for cultural and other public functions .It is located close to the Napier museum, which is a famous science and museum, which offers good insight and knowledge to students and researchers.

Sanghumugham beachThis beach is a lovely location for sunset watchers and the most significant attractions here is the 35 m sculpture of a mermaid, called Matsya Kanyaka. You can find the beach to offer you plenty of recreational activities. It is located close to the Veli tourist village and another distinct landmark that’s close by is the airport.

Veli tourist village is a lovely place for tourists with its lovely scenic vistas. It provides an ideal picnic spot and includes a watchtower, crocodile farm, lion safari park and a deer park, aruvikkara dam, a picturesque picnic spot on the banks of Karamana River.
