Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary

Situated in the Western Ghats of Kerala, is the Periyar National Park and Tiger Reserve. It was formed due to the construction of a dam in 1895 and has a beautiful lake at the heart of the sanctuary. This reservoir provides water for the local wildlife as it flows aimlessly in a line through the wooded hills. Being a tiger reserve, the main attraction of this place for tourist is the Indian elephants.
